Protect Access to Care for Kidney Patients in Florida

Please email and call your Florida state lawmakers TODAY!
Encourage them to support Senate Bill 2184 and House Bill 1167.

As you know, dialysis patients have many medical needs. Most patients must receive dialysis three times a week. Each session may last 3-4 hours.

These two bills currently before the Florida legislature will help ensure those suffering from kidney failure access to the life-sustaining care they need by allowing patients to:

  • Receive their recurring, life-sustaining treatment close to home. Patients will not have to travel more than 30 minutes from their home to obtain treatment.

  • Receive the full scope of the insurance benefits they've paid for over the years, prohibiting insurers from taking actions that could result in a patient switching to a government insurance program and dropping their private insurance early.

  • Receive advanced notice of a change to covered services, provider network, and changes in reimbursement, including any increased payment responsibility to the patient.

  • Limit the number of times insurers can require prior authorization for dialysis treatment to no more than twice a year.
