Kidney Care Connections
STEP THREE: Preparing for Your Visit

Before your visit, be sure to complete everything below.

  1. Notify Amy Bogan, Grassroots Manger, of the date of the visit. Please feel free to give her a call and ask any questions you might have. She is also willing to participate in a conference call with your staff to help coordinate the visit.
  2. Notify your patients and teammates of the date of the visit
-- Have every patient who will be in the center the day of the visit sign both release forms below
  3. Notify your Regional Operating Director and DVP and invite them to attend visit
  4. Check with visitor’s staff about media coverage.  If media coverage is approved, contact Amy Bogan at amy.bogan@davita.com for current information about what to send and whom to contact.
-- Fax the media advisory with the address of your center to any news outlets you’d like to invite.
  5. Print out the appropriate hand outs listed to the right, under "Center Visit Resources".
  6. Spruce up your center. You may do as little or as much as you feel comfortable with and have time for, but remember, everything listed below is strictly optional and not a requirement to host a visit.
-- Decorate with a welcome sign, banner, and/or balloons. This is optional.
-- Arrange for food (This is optional, but if you do choose to have refreshments, please make sure they are of nominal value -- Bagels and muffins in the morning, coffee and sodas with cake or cookies in the afternoon.)
-- DaVita souvenir. This is optional. If you do give a souvenir, make certain it is of nominal value, such as a DaVita key chain, DaVita pen, or a DaVita mug, for example.
  7. Know the basic message. Contact Amy Bogan for current talking points or issues to discuss.
Arrange for someone to take pictures of the visit (even if there will be media coverage)
-- Please share your pictures with Amy Bogan at amy.bogan@davita.com
  8. If a member of the lawmaker's staff is visiting your center in place of the lawmaker, please ask them for a business card and/or write down their name, title and contact information.
